KEEPING THE TEACHING SPIRIT ALIVE

Monday, January 9th, 2012 marked the opening of the much-anticipated MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY of New York City located in a luminous space on the 10th floor of 853 Broadway.
Dany SANZ, founder and creator of the iconic makeup brand and her entire North American MAKE UP FOR EVER team turned up to celebrate the opening.

HISTORY OF THE ACADEMY

With a true passion for artistry and sharing her knowledge with budding makeup artist, Dany Sanz started the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy in Paris in 2002. Prior to the launch of the Academy, Dany Sanz also established and directed the prestigious “Ecole Chauveau” in Paris, which allowed her to discover a new facet of makeup artistry – the education and inspiration of new artists. The Paris based Academy inspired a crop of Academies to be developed throughout the world. Today there are MAKE UP FOR EVER Academies in Paris, New York, Nice, Seoul, as well as affiliates in Hong Kong, Taipei, Beirut, Brussels, Jakarta, and Singapore.

ACADEMY PROFILE

The Academy curriculum has been designed to master the craft of makeup artistry in a manner that is unique in the industry. MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy is international with global perspectives. We teach every aspect of makeup artistry from beauty to body painting according to the methods of our founder, Dany Sanz. We utilize and embrace each student’s unique creativity and approach to the craft of makeup artistry. We provide direct and specific critiques of students’ work on a daily basis focusing on methods to improve technique and results. The history and culture of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy ensure the most elite training for tomorrow’s artists

The MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY OFFERS FOUR LEVELS OF PROGRAMMING:

Level 1 – Beauty
Level 2 – Fashion
Level 3 – Film & TV
Level 4 – Artistic & Stage

These levels are presented in a series of course modules which each incorporate a selection of programs. Programs may be taken as separately scheduled modules, however all program levels must be successfully completed in the level order.
Module A includes Levels 1-4
Module B includes Levels 1- 3
Module C Includes Levels 1 and 2

BECOMING AN ACADEMY STUDENT

No previous formal makeup application experience or education is required for participation in the program at the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy. However, students should exhibit a strong connection to the art of makeup and have an interest in the professional makeup artist career.
The following are ideal characteristics of a MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy student:
Artistically inspired with a strong creative intuition
Self motivated and driven to succeed
Experienced or interested in the beauty industry, including fields such as cosmetology, esthetics, hairstyling, cosmetic retail or other related industries
Background in fine arts, painting, drawing, sculpting, photography and or other related fields
Strong interest in makeup and experience in application

LEAD EDUCATOR

Floriane David, Lead Educator
Originally from Paris, France, Floriane has worked with MAKE UP FOR EVER since 1992. She taught at the prestigious MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY in Paris, as well as at the highly regarded London College of Fashion, amongst other revered schools in London. Floriane has also taught around the world in such locations as Dubai, Lebanon, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, and Austria.
Floriane has a City and Guilds teaching certificate from London and is licensed from the NYSB.
