Make Up For Ever Academy Helsinki

Thursday, January 26th, 2012 MAKE UP FOR EVER celebrated the opening of the first Northern European MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY in Helsinki.

OVERVIEW OF THE ACADEMY

The Academy of Helsinki welcomes students from all countries and instruction can be given in Finnish, English, French, Swedish and Russian. And it aims to be the school-of-choice for makeup artistry in the Northern Europe.

The new Academy upholds the quality of education provided by all MAKE UP FOR EVER Academies worldwide. Its educators are all at least level 3, including three level5 makeup-artists. In addition to being certified by Dany Sanz and the Paris Academy, the teachers have over 100 years of combined experience in makeup instruction. Their professional work experience in this field is even richer. The Academy has collected the best talent and expertise in their market to share this fabulous profession with as many as possible.

WHO ?

Julius Sepponen is the Academy Director. He has been working in the industry and especially with MAKE UP FOR EVER for several years, collecting experience and contacts both locally and internationally. He was a trainer even before becoming a makeup-artist and combines the vision and skills needed in makeup artistry with knowledge of modern technology and business, giving our Academy a definite edge.

Kaarina Kokkonen is the Educational Manager. She has over 25yrs of experience in teaching makeup and is one of Finland's best known makeup artists. She was Dany's first Finnish student in Paris in 1982-83, and has since practiced the profession with passion. She also belongs to the national committee that evaluates makeup artists for professional certificates.

Educator Tuija Luukkainen is an experienced makeup-artist as well as a beautician. She has over 20 years of experience with theatrical, beauty and TV-makeup combined with vast knowledge in skincare and cosmetology.

The Academy also has 9 other educators, each one representing and teaching a specific field of makeup excellence. These educators combined with various external professionals and specialists provide its students with a very comprehensive approach to makeup and the industry in general.

WHAT ?

MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy Helsinki offers three different modules for students:

- Module A: 8 months (long course), Beauty – Fashion – Movies - TV – Theatre – Artistic – Special FX
- Module B: 4 months, Beauty – Fashion – Movies – TV
- Module C: 3 months, Beauty – Fashion – Visagism

In addition to these our Academy offers also Intensive Trainings on all the relevant topics. Customized intensive courses for groups of people, e.g. companies or productions are also available.

The Academy curriculum has been designed to master the craft of makeup-artistry in a unique manner. MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy Helsinki is international with global perspectives.

The Academy provides every aspect of makeup-artistry from beauty to body painting according to the methods of our founder, Dany Sanz. It utilizes and embraces each student’s unique creativity and approach to the craft of makeup-artistry. It also provides direct and specific critiques of students’ work on a daily basis focusing on methods to improve technique and results.

INTERNSHIPS

All students will be sent on internships during their course. These will give the new professionals a great opportunity to gain experience in the field during their education and to make connections in the industry.

MAKE UP FOR EVER STUDENT PROFIL

No previous formal makeup application experience or education is required for participation in the program at the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy; however, students should exhibit a strong connection to the art of makeup and have an interest in the professional makeup artist career.
The following are ideal characteristics of a MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy student:
• 18 years of age
• Artistically inspired with a strong creative intuition
• Self motivated and driven to succeed
• Experienced or interested in the beauty industry, including fields such as cosmetology, aesthetics, hairstyling, cosmetic retail or other related industries
• Background in fine arts, painting, drawing, sculpting, photography and or other related fields
• Strong interest in makeup and experience in application
