PROGRAM

Module TV
Duration : 6 weeks - 195 hours

- Better understanding of Colorimetric methodology
- Make-up for TV programs, news broadcasts and video clips
- Specificity of TV and video clips environment
- Light usage: natural, artificial, set background
- TV Camera technical differences
- TV shows time-scale specificity
- Preparation to Video-clips: working with the director
- Product use and tips for different climates (heat, snow, rain, cold, …)

Wig-making and Hair-dos
  •  Wig setting
  •  How to take it off, to clean and maintain
  •  Fitting of hairpieces and creation of beard, moustaches and sideburns
  •  How to take them off, clean and maintain
  •  How to repair wigs and hairpieces
  •  Initiation to hairpieces manufacturing

 

Module TV Series & TV Movies
Duration : 4 weeks - 130 hours

- TV movies and series, what and how it happens during a shooting
- How to read and work with a script
- How to prepare make-up step by step according to a script
- Preparation of first meeting with the Director, actors and technical team
- Organization (time frame, material, conditions,…)
- Negotiating the budgets with production company
- How to work under time constraint and with limited budget
- Light work
- TV series camera specificity
- TV Beauty, period and special effects make-ups

 

Module Cinema
Duration : 8 weeks - 260 hours

- Beauty enhancement for movies, period movies, aging, SFX
- Which relationship to develop with Actors, Directors, Directors of photography
- Make-up cultural differences
- How to read and work with a script
- How to prepare a script step by step
- Preparation of first meeting with Director
- Organization (time frame, material, conditions…)
- How to work on a full-length feature film or short films, with Majors or indies
- Light work
- Cinema camera specificities
- How to work with prosthetics artists

 

Module SFX - Prosthetics
Duration : 8 weeks - 260 hours

- Adventure movies, thrillers, fantasy…
- How to work with prosthetics on an actor
- Fingerprinting
- Moulding
- Sculpture (Plastiline)
- Prostheses creation (silicone,…)
- Protheses make-up
- Adjustement on the actors

BEAUTY TO SPECIAL EFFECTS FUNDAMENTALS

6 Months - Paris Academy  

 

Beauty / Fashion / Enhancing Facial Features
Duration: 5 months

- Essential skin concepts
- Anatomy and morphological studies of different faces
- Colorimetry
- The makeup artist’s approach
- Complexion, eye, mouth and eyebrow makeup
- Shading techniques, light and shadow techniques
- Corrective makeup techniques (concealing scars etc.)
- Makeup: from the most natural to the most sophisticated
- Makeup for mature skin, bridal and ethnic makeup (dark and Asian skin)
- Lighting analysis basics
- History of makeup from Antiquity to the present day
- Makeup techniques for photography
- Makeup techniques for the catwalk (Showrooms, Haute Couture and Designers)
- Fashion makeup through the years
- Practical advice for adapting the techniques taught to different professional contexts (photo shoots, fashion shows, weddings, etc.)

 

TV&CINEMA FUNDAMENTALS
Duration: 1 month


- Approach and organization on television sets
- Lighting concepts and techniques on set (outside, day and night)
- Makeup for men and women (natural, corrective and sophisticated)
- Makeup for television: presenter, reporter and guest sets
- Music video makeup for singers and dancers
- Progressive aging for films (using makeup products and latex)
- Fitting hairpieces
- Products for recreating special effects on the skin (blood, latex, glue, artificial flesh, etc.)
- Use in different contexts: cinema, TV, etc.
- Grazes, scratches, bruises, injuries
- Particular skin features (diseases, corpse-like appearance, textures, etc.)
- First, second and third degree burns
- Explosions, strangulation marks, bullet wounds
- Applying and making up small prosthetics

 

ASSESSMENT OF THE 6 MONTHS TRAINING COURSE IN PARIS

Following their training course, students submit 12 photos of their makeup for the 6 months exam.

Internships

Our vast experience in organizing internships for our students of our flagship Paris Academy ensures the proposal of internships within the professional structures of la Cité du Cinéma (schools, shootings ...). The classes not attended while doing an internship will be taken into account in the grading.

- All students wishing to enroll on intensive training courses must be aged at least 18 when the course starts
- Makeup products are provided
- The Academy will provide one model for each student (except when practicing on oneself is required)
- The maximum number of students per teacher is 10; any number higher than 10 will require a second teacher
- During the course, students may access the Proloft boutique and get 50% off MAKE UP FOR EVER products
- The MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY is a continuing education center
