Academy News CHOCOLATE FAIR

This is an amazing opportunity for the Academy: national visibility and an unusual yet exciting internship for its students.

Way back in May, the Chocolate Fair organizers contacted the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy to set up an official partnership: the Academy would make up all models for the daily Chocolate Fashion Show. This is an amazing opportunity for the Academy: national visibility and an unusual yet exciting internship for its students.

Mathieu Inard, Teacher and Academies Coordinator, was Head of Makeup, and therefore designed two beautiful makeups on face charts to sublimate exceptional couture masterpieces made of chocolate. The teachers of the Academy attended the rehearsals the week before, to adapt the makeup to the dresses and make sure it created an harmonious look. Mathieu was backed-up during the Fair by Sylvie Goncalves and Lisa Madani, both freelancers and Academy alumni.

Thirty six students were selected to attend this event - 6 per day. You'd be right to say "The fair lasts 5 days, that's only 30 students". But that would be forgetting the inaugural premiere with VIPs and the press, on the 29th, where celebrities model the amazing chocolate and pastry designs. Among this year's famous faces, you could see Marion Bartoli (tennis player), Dounia Coesens (actress), Marie-Ange Casalta (journalist & TV presenter), Noémie Lenoir (model & actress)... What an extraordinay experience for our students! They showed proof of great technique and artistry, with a fantastic professional attitude.

What sets this marvelous Fair apart is also its involvment in not only offering great visibility to new talents but also to a good cause. The Academy is also partner of the associative project of the Chocolate Fair: a Calendar for 2014 for the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque (heart surgery patronage). Each photo of the calendar will highlight a duo, mainly a chocolatier and a VIP. The photo shoots were held from November 4th to 8th and teachers of the Academy realised once again beautiful makeups. Some of the twelve duos were Frédéric Anton & Chantal Thomass, Pierre Hermé & a little girl from the patronage, Jean-François Piège & Sylvie Tellier, Jean-Paul Hévin & Patrice Leconte, Vincent Guerlais & Noémie Lenoir, Philippe Conticini & Anne Roumanoff...

If you have never been to the Cholocate Fair, here's a chance to catch up: a unique event will be held from April 17th to 24th at the Grand Palais, an exhibit called "Chocolat, Patrimoine Universel" (Chocolate: universal heritage) to celebrate chocolate in every form or shape it comes. A retrospective show of the most beautiful chocolate dresses will be organised for the premiere, and some dresses will even be worn by their original celebrity.

See you there!
