This summer, the Paris Academy organized its First Summer School for, as you may have guessed from the name, the first time, offering an intensive, all-new two-month training program. Join us as we take a look at this exciting new format with the three professors in charge.

Really hard & intensive but, at the same time, really possible.

The interview takes place on the rooftop of the Paris Academy with the three professors of the Summer School: Mathieu Inard ,Andrée-Line Dumont and Noémie Contessi (who won the World Body Painting Festival in July 2012).
For the eight intense weeks of Summer School, all three were in charge of the following courses: Fashion Beauty / Cinema TV / Special effects and stage / Artistic.

The results of the training?

It was very interesting and enriching. We had great interactions with the participants and there were good vibes all around” said Andrée-Line, “During the classes, we listened to music playlists to find inspiration and that created a very cool atmosphere.”

The professors also liked the participant’s skills and their creativity. “At the end of each week, we organized a photo shoot for each participant. The objective was to give them the opportunity to put together a make-up book. It was very intense because the participants worked on their models all day, investing their time and inspiration,” said Noémie. “And during the FX week, participants got really creative, even getting into role-playing. For instance, one participant even went so far as to stage a car accident with her model for the photo shoot.”

For Mathieu, this intensive training was a very different experience compared to the longer training programs, because participants tended to be older and are only in Paris for 2 months. “The Summer School is a good way to get fundamentals down and, of course, improve existing make-up techniques but, realistically, it’s also a short period in which to learn. Some participants put themselves under immense pressure to do their best during the 8 weeks. Fitting in all the techniques can be challenging.”

Some anecdotes?

One participant apparently fell in love with Mathieu and a male model tried to seduce one of the participants. “Really, the Summer School curriculum got taken to a whole ‘nother level, most certainly because it was hot, and taking place during the summertime,” Andrée-Line confided.

Surely the most important feedback comes from the participants themselves. They invested in this summer training to improve their make-up skills and get solid techniques in different fundamental make-up specialties. We discovered that one participant is a hair designer and entered the program to be able to offer make-up sessions to her clients. Another did this training in order to become a freelance make-up artist.

All the participants reported being very satisfied as their two month stint came to a close, and their feedback was really positive. Their descriptions of the program speak volumes: “enriching”, “life changing”, “fun”, “challenging”, “awesome”, “intensive and intense!”, “good professors”, “really hard & intensive but at the same time really possible”.

Let’s do it again!
