WHAT WAS THE SHOOT LIKE?

Hannah: Shooting with Rankin for MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Ultra HD Foundation was an incredible opportunity and experience. I’m so thankful to have worked with such an amazing team and to be a face for this iconic brand and product.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DAY.

Aurélia: I arrived on set here in London by 7 AM. There was a lot of excitement with all the people involved in the production hurrying around. I spent most of the morning in hair and makeup as the creative team and makeup artist discussed the look that they wanted to create. When it was time to get in front of the camera, Rankin kept cracking me up with his jokes!

Hannah: We were also being filmed for a backstage video. And selfies were strongly encouraged!

WAS THIS THE FIRST TIME THE TWO OF YOU HAVE WORKED TOGETHER? HOW DID IT GO?

Hannah: I had never met with Aurélia prior to the shoot but it is always fun to work with and learn from other models from across the globe. Working with her was easy. The team was going for a more playful aesthetic so we both had a lot of free reign to play around, have fun and experiment with different looks. The shoot called for lots of energy, flirtiness and attitude.

Aurélia: For one of the concepts we have to shoot side by side. It was quite technical in the sense that by the time we find the right pose that translates naturally in the photograph we are totally contorted into something that feels very unnatural as we are standing there. We worked off each other to make sure neither of us fell over! We had a really fun shoot.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF YOUR HAIR AND MAKEUP?

Aurélia: My makeup was really cool, I would say it was inspired by a sixties eye and the skin was dewy and fresh. The hair they kept sleek back off the face.

Hannah: On set, I wore a dramatic smoky eye with beautiful gold, bronze and copper tones paired with a contoured face and slicked back hair. The look was bold and made me feel strong, sexy and confident.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CREW?

Hannah: The staff and makeup artists were really sweet and accommodating. Some members of staff from this team have worked with some of fashion’s brightest stars so I was grateful for the chance to work with them.

Aurélia: The makeup artist was very sweet, I loved her work and she kept me calm throughout the long day as there was so much going on with a lot of people on set and we were shooting till midnight. The crew – and there was a lot of them – were so organized and professional.

DID ANYTHING HAPPEN ON THE SHOOT THAT STANDS OUT?

Aurélia: As an international model, you travel so much for work and meet people from all walks of life. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that one of Rankin’s assistants was from Edmonton, a city just 3 hours away from my hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Such a crazy, small world!

Hannah: During the filming of the video we had a great time rocking out and destroying the set by throwing around makeup and lipstick and making this huge mess. It was fun but the makeup artist was not too happy about that part of the shoot – we got foundation and make up in our hair and the cleanup was a disaster!
