Body Art & Fashion Show - Shiatzy Chen

To celebrate its 30 years anniversary MAKE UP FOR EVER teamed up with six fashion designers to recreate six dresses with makeup on the body.

Each designer (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Kenzo, Emilio Pucci, Shiatzy Chen, Valentin Yudashkin and Zuhair Murad) was selected by Dany Sanz  - Artist Director and founder of MAKE UP FOR EVER to create together an inspired piece of art that represents her artistic world. Whether surreal, exotic, baroque or tribal, each painting combines makeup with the dresses in a deft demonstration of artistic skill. Learn more about the work of the twelve makeup artists working on the body painting and discover the pictures of the dresses and the bodies.

Te two makeup artists responsibe for the creation of the body painting tell us more about their work:

Shiatzy Chen’s design featured multiple texture and color effects. Our work primarily focused on the realism of the clothing on the curves of the body. To achieve this, we created a pattern used to replicate the jacket in the right proportions. Our main challenge involved recreating the pattern on the jacket. The fuchsia-colored rose was reconstituted using a system of stencils and body printing. We then worked on the shape of the rose using a composition of Star Powder and Pure Pigments for the shading and lighting effects.”

Makeup Artists: Anne Caze & Aldair Acosta
