Eve From Canada - PERFECTING THE LINE

Why stop at great when perfection is close to hand? Makeup Artist contest winner is always chasing the latter.

To celebrate MAKE UP FOR EVER’s 30 Years Anniversary, a Pro Makeup Artist Contest was launched. 7 winners won a spectacular Body Painting week at the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy in Paris. The winners are a creative and infinitely interesting motley crew.

Hailing from Montreal, Eve is a professional makeup artist at home working on special events, theater and personalized transformation. She does body and face painting but, amazing though her work is, she says she's mainly learned it by doing it. On the job experience mainly. Patient by nature, if after a few hours she's not loving what she's doing, she's not afraid of redesigning. If she loves what she's doing, she is happy to keep going forever.

Eve’s winning character

Eve entered the contest with a funked-out, futuristic take on American silent film actress Theda Bara. She chose her because she was one of the original vamps but also known to be a true character. Keeping the bow lips and Theda's shadowy eyes, Eve added lots of eye-popping color, feathers and modernized her look.

Already an artist, Eve sometimes sketches what she is going to paint ahead of time. The finished result is a near carbon copy of what she saw in her mind's eye, except that it literally lives and breathes. Her model sees herself simply as a canvas that was transformed - she doesn't really see herself in the art.

What did she learn& love?

Eve's first time in Paris aside from layover flights, she is having a blast at the Academy. The most interesting trick for Eve so far is that, though the paints are all water-based, you can use eye seal or Mist&Fix to make them more resistant and long-lasting. That's a tip that's going back to Montreal!
