Pear from Thailand - BLOGGING FOR BEAUTY

Often found in New York or London working the looks behind the runway, Pro makeup artist Pear is a much followed beauty blogger in her native Thailand.

To celebrate MAKE UP FOR EVER’s 30 Years Anniversary, a Pro Makeup Artist Contest was launched. 7 winners won a spectacular Body Painting week at the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy in Paris. The winners are a creative and infinitely interesting motley crew.

Pear’s winning character

One of  three Thai makeup artists that placed amongst the 7 winners – what are the odds?!– beauty blogger and professional makeup artist Pear’s highly artistic entry took Avatar as its inspiration – she was particularly taken with the neon forests – and neon was the thread that tied different worlds together, ours and another, altogether more fantastical one.  Meticulous to a fault, just editing her competition video took Pear two weeks! “We were given only two minutes so every second, every half second, was so important,” she explained. That perfectionism certainly paid off. She impressed the judges.

“Everyone was judged on merit not provenance, reputation or any other outside factors,”  said MAKE UP FOR EVER Creative Director and founder Dany Sanz. “We watched the entry videos with no background info supplied on any of the makeup artists. The artistry spoke for itself.”

What did she learn & love?

Though highly sought after as a makeup artist, Pear hasn’t done body painting before so she feels like she’s had to start at zero. The first day was a challenge. Quite shy, she wasn’t used to people taking their clothes off and offering themselves up as a canvas! “What’s great,” she says, “is that I feel like a blank sheet of paper, a sponge. I am just absorbing all this new knowledge, this brand new experience.”

Pear’s third time in Paris, it’s only now that the Metro is starting to make a little more sense. Good thing, too, as Euro Disney is in the book for the last day, the perfect contrast to an intense week of learning new things.
