What would be your Definition of a Make-up Artist?

A Make-up Artist creates make-ups based on characters and according to the script, in harmony with the actors and the director. A Make-up Artist must know how to adapt his technique depending on the light and bring a personal touch.

Do you think there is a difference between a general Make-up Artist and a Cinema Make-up Artist?

Make-up Artist in the cinema industry is about teamworking, continuously and in connection with a scenario. You can approach a lot of different make-ups (period, aging, natural, sophisticated...).

What brought you to this industry? What are you the most fond of in this industry, is it relationships with actors, directors, producers, the transformation that you can operate on characters?

What brought me here is the passion of fiction, the possibility to create and view a make-up that ""lives"" through a face. Also, I love working with other technicians (hairdressers, dressers, director of photography etc.) on sets. In movies, make-ups are always varied, it's always a discovery of new challenges. The importance of human relationships, even when it's difficult, is something that I appreciate and value.

What are the basic requirements to be a Make-up Artist in the movie industry?

We must first of all be creative and have a team spirit, be available and mobile, perfectionist, neat, patient, have a spirit of adventure, and "loving to touch skins".

What are you the most proud of in your career?

I am very proud to have been able to transform an actor into an existing person, with a real prep work with the actor: Thierry Fremont as Francis Heaulme in Dans la tête du tueur (2005 Emmy Award for Best Actor).

Some MUAs in the USA and in Europe say that MUAs are not recognized enough in the industry, do you agree?

It is a craft for which there is no César opposed to the costumes, decor, etc ... Some people think that make-up is easy or unimportant!

What is your first impression of our TV and Cinema Academy project?

It's a beautiful idea: there is a real need for a sharp school, with the intervention of various people from different departments, to link the school with reality.
